HR policies are formal guidelines that explain how your company manages employees and workplace matters. They set clear expectations, establish accountability, and ensure everyone follows the same rules and procedures.
This is where SteadyPoint HRIS, the SteadyPoint HR management system, makes policy management simple. All company policies are stored in one central place, making them easy to publish, track, and acknowledge by the employees they apply to.
In this blog, we'll explain how HR admins can create new policies and what employees need to do when a new policy is published.

How can admins add policies?
System Admins and HR Admins have permission to create and manage policies in SteadyPoint HRIS.
To add a new policy:
- Navigate to Policy Center from the left-hand menu.
- Click + New Policy.

This opens a new screen where you can enter the policy information, including:

- Policy Title
- Description
- Category
- Document URL
- Version
- Effective Date
- Expiry Date
- Whether acknowledgment is required
- Active or Inactive status
- Policy Owner
- Applicable employees: All employees or a specific department
It is worth mentioning that if a policy requires acknowledgment, employees selected under To Whom It Is Applicable must acknowledge it. For example, if you make the policy applicable to the Sales department, an email notification will automatically be sent to all Sales employees asking them to review and acknowledge the policy.
What should employees do when there is a new policy?
When a new policy is published in SteadyPoint HRIS, employees affected by the policy receive an email notification.
Depending on the policy settings, the email will either:
- Ask employees to acknowledge the policy,

- Or inform them that a new policy has been published for their awareness.

If acknowledgment is required, employees should navigate to the Policy Center and review and acknowledge the policy accordingly.

Final note
Policies exist to establish clear workplace rules and ensure employees understand their responsibilities and remain accountable. With SteadyPoint HRIS, all company policies are organized and accessible under the Policy Center, making it easier to communicate policies, track acknowledgments, and keep everyone informed.
